Who you are agreeing with

Pip is made and operated by David Ziman, working as a sole individual in Hungary. You accept these terms by tapping Agree and continue on the onboarding agreement screen, where you can also read the Privacy Policy and the disclosure of Google AI processing. If you do not accept these terms, do not continue into the app.

Who can use Pip

Pip is intended for adults who are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose information they record, or who otherwise have authority to record it. You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live. Pip is not offered directly to children and does not create accounts for them.

What Pip does

Pip lets you record what a child ate, see the nutrient values available for those foods, and keep occasional check-ins of height, weight, and wellbeing. Free food entry includes barcode lookup, search, and manual logging. Pip Pro also includes photo recognition and a dedicated meal-description tool.

Photo recognition returns suggestions, not conclusions. Every suggested food and amount is editable before you save it, and you are expected to check it.

Not medical advice

Pip is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or assess any condition, does not classify growth, does not set nutrient targets for an individual child, and does not provide medical or dietary advice.

Do not use Pip in an emergency and do not use it in place of a qualified professional. Talk to a pediatric clinician or registered dietitian about any concern regarding a child's diet, growth, or health.

Accuracy of food and nutrient data

Nutrient values come largely from Open Food Facts, a community-maintained open database. Records there can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and many foods have no value recorded for a given nutrient at all. Where a value is missing, Pip shows it as unavailable rather than guessing.

Reference amounts shown on this website are general US daily references for generally healthy children. They are context, not a prescription for your child.

Open Food Facts data is used under the Open Database License (ODbL). Product data is © Open Food Facts contributors.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for checking entries before you rely on them, for the accuracy of what you enter, and for keeping control of the device Pip is installed on. Because Pip stores your records on that device and offers no cloud backup, you are also responsible for your own device backups; if you lose or wipe the device, the records go with it.

You confirm you have the authority to record information about the child in a profile you create.

Subscriptions

Pip Free includes food tracking for one child, barcode lookup, food search, manual entry and history. Pip Pro adds AI meal-photo recognition, meal descriptions, AI insights and tracking for up to three children. Pro requires a paid subscription bought through the Apple App Store. Price, trial eligibility, billing, renewal, and cancellation are shown by Apple before you buy and are governed by Apple's terms. Payment is taken by Apple; Pip never receives your payment details.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Manage or cancel yours in your Apple account settings — cancelling has to be done through Apple, not inside Pip. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. Pip provides a restore option for reinstating an existing purchase on a device.

Third-party services

Pip uses Google Cloud and Google Vertex AI for meal-photo recognition, meal-description parsing, and nutrition insights. It also uses Firebase Authentication to verify subscription identity and Firebase App Check with Apple App Attest and DeviceCheck to verify requests, Open Food Facts for food and barcode records, and Apple with RevenueCat for subscriptions. These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

What is sent to each, and what is not, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Do not use Pip unlawfully. Do not attempt to bypass or overload the recognition service, which is rate limited, and do not submit images you have no right to submit. Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute the app, or attempt to interfere with the recognition, food lookup, or purchase services.

Availability and changes

Features may change or be unavailable when a service they depend on is offline. Food lookup, AI features, purchases, and subscription checks require an internet connection. Family records are stored locally. Deleting local data does not cancel an Apple subscription.

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be published here with a new effective date, and continuing to use Pip after that means you accept the updated terms.

No warranty

Pip is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, no warranty is given that recognition will be accurate, that nutrient data will be complete or correct, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, liability arising from your use of Pip is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription period in which the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence — those rights are unaffected by these terms.

Termination

You can stop using Pip at any time by deleting the app, and cancel a subscription through Apple. Access to the recognition service may be suspended where it is being abused.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. This choice does not limit any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence. Disputes may be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law, including courts in your country of residence where consumer law gives you that right. Nothing in these terms requires you to bring a claim exclusively in Hungary.
